Nearly 70,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer in the United States each year.
Cancer is leading disease killer of young adults aged 20 to 39 years-old.
The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults is a leading voice in the young adult cancer movement. The Baltimore based organization works at a grassroots level to support, educate, connect, and empower young adult cancer survivors.
UCF works directly with young adult cancer patients, aged 15 to 39, to help navigate both cancer treatment and life, so no young adult faces cancer alone.
Through both remote and on-site support services, these critical programs helps improve the ability of young adults to manage their cancer experiences and long-term cancer survival through access to support resources tailored specifically to young adults. UCF helps young adults through their cancer journey with increased knowledge of their disease, treatment options and lifelong implications of treatment choices; and effective communication with their clinical care team, family, friends, community, and others in their support network.
CANCER to 5K is another incredible program developed by UCF. This free, 12-week training program is designed to introduce or reintroduce cancer survivors to physical activity. The program provides survivors with professional training, coaches, encouragement and support necessary to complete a 5K (3.1 mile) road- race, regardless of their current cancer treatment status or fitness level.
In addition, UCF provides support groups to cancer fighters and their families and scholarships for those affected by cancer.
The cool part is they do this with compassion, a sense of fun and a celebration of life.
Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults is an incredible non-profit organization centered here in the Baltimore community. XP LaserSport is proud to partner with them for our Friday Night Fight Club.
