2) Planning Your XP Laser Sport Fundraiser Event

Too cold for a car wash? Scared of your organization’s baking talent?

XP Laser Sport has the alternative to the usual fundraiser. With a few simple steps, XP Laser Sport can take the headache out of gaining support for your organization.

Step 1: Pick a date for your fundraising event. It must be a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Plan for at least a month to give XP Laser Sport a chance to print up flyers,
posters and promotional material.

Step 2: Coordinate with an XP Laser Sport reservation specialist. Have all your pertinent information ready when calling so the specialist can gather all the information to place on the literature.

Step 3: Distribute literature (hang posters, flyers and give out tickets). This must be done in advance and cannot be done in front of the store on the day of the event.

Step 4: Be in attendance while your contributors have a great time while helping your organization. XP Laser Sport will staple each ticket to a receipt. XP Laser Sport will
contribute 20% of all ticketed receipts to your organization.

3) Lasertag Tournament Update

Another successful year of the Lasertron World Championships (LTWC) comes to a close in Buffalo.

In Division 1, considered the cream of the crop, there were five 8-person teams (ten 4- person squads in the Team Free-for-All and Shields Recharge formats).

It was also the first year that the LTWC had two divisions.

Division 2 (novice) had two 8-person teams (four 4-person teams for Team Free-for-All and Shields Recharge Formats).

Top Gun, a Division 1 team from Laser Flash (Carmel, Indiana) came away with the most first place wins (3 total) in the team events.

Team Sport, Quad Sport (a four team game) and Team Free-for-All were the 3 formats that they won first place.

Nortretoaster a team comprised of 5 local Buffalo players and 3 others (1 from NYC, 1 from Pittsburgh and 1 from Baltimore) took fourth place in the Team Sport and Quad Sport events.

The Professionals:(From Left To Right) Nam Nguyen Monk, Pete Peters Zorgon, Marc Mueller Sul Sa, Matt Gordon Greenknight, Zack Barry Cyberwolf, Gary Geiglein Dragonfly, Richard Durio D-Train, Rob Maloney Dolphin, and Randall Meding Bhodi Li.

Team "Noobs" took 3rd in the Quad Sport and fourth in the Shields Recharge formats. This team was comprised of players from Laser Storm Ohio, Texas LaserQuest and 1 player (Havok) from XP Laser Sport in Laurel.

XP Lasersport’s Division 2 Team "Peacekeepers" Took 1st in ALL Division 2 events.

Both individual player events were won by players from XP Laser Sport.

In the Solo-Elimination Format, Randall Meding AKA "Bhodi Li" took the top spot with Zack Barry AKA "Cyberwolf" following close behind in 2nd.

In the Lasertron "TOP PLAYER" Event, the roles were reversed with Cyberwolf in the top spot for a 2nd year running. Zack won all of the heats making him the best individual Lasertron player on the planet! :) Bhodi Li was right behind him with a strong 2nd place finish.

5) XP Laser Sport announces featured "Player of Month"

Real Name: Jamie Tsottles

Codename: Nimrod

Age: 41

A 20 year laser tag veteran, Jamie began his laser tag career at the Baltimore Photon. "It was in the late 80's. I think 87. I was delivering pizza and I recall hearing a radio comericial for Photon. "you don't just play the game, you ARE the game".

"I left work with out saying anything to my boss and spent all my tip money on Photon. Soon after, I got a job right near Photon so i could play more."

This senior IT professional has played against players from all over the world in both Photon and Armageddon multi-system laser tag tournaments.

"One of my favorite early photon teams was the Lost Boys. We were a team from the resort town of Ocean City MD where I was spending my summer.

"I remember here was this one new kid on the team who was totally insane with the entire Photon concept. He wasn't that good but I could see potential in him. His name was Bhodi li."

Jamie currently plays for the two time Lasertron World Champion team "Overpower". When asked about his playing style, he quickly responded...

"I am an aggressive player. I feel that many formats require a lot of pressure on the opposite team."

Jamie is currently ranked 8th in the Lasertron World Championships circuit. What's his favorite CHIP or special mode?

"I think Deactivator is the most important chip in the game. You can leverage it in different ways. If you catch someone in front of the re-charger, you are getting massive points.

If the opposing team is smart enough to stay out of the re-charger, your team mates have free base points. This of course is contingent on de-activating the other teams deactivator ;)"

Besides his skill in the arena, this Baltimore resident is also well known for his generosity when it comes to sharing his lasertag knowledge.

"Almost 20 years of lasertag has offered me some interesting insight to life."

Competition:

"Competition is good. It helps you achieve if you apply it correctly in other areas of life."

Winning:

"Attitude is bad. It makes people not like you. If you are good at the game, just be that. don't rub it in peoples faces."

Teamwork:

"Teamwork is critical every place in life. Personal development allows you to be an effective member of a team."

If you want to know how to tap into more of Jamie's knowledge, then come on out to one of XP Laser Sport's player clinics.

If you want to improve your game, you can't afford not to attend.

6) "Taking It To the Next Level… Hints and Tips For Improving Your Game"

By Randy "Bhodi Li" Meding

Understanding the Team Free-for-All Format of the Lasertron World Championships

Team Free-for-All. I know...it’s an oxymoron. Its name came about as a result of taking the original free-for-all settings used at Lasertron Headquarters in Buffalo and
turning it into a two-team format.

Why did they not change the name? The world may never know...

One of the easiest formats to learn, Team Free-for-All gives each player unlimited laser pulses and energy units (shots and lives).

There are NO bases active in the game so player tags are the only way to score. When a player is tagged their vest speakers say "Shields Up!" and for 3 seconds they cannot
be tagged again.

During the 3 seconds their lights are blinking and they cannot be tagged until their lights turn solid (speakers say "Shields Down!").

Immediately after being tagged, a player has the ability to fire a "reflex" or "courtesy" tag for up to 1 second after getting tagged.

This "reflex" tag can only happen if the player is not holding in both buttons and the trigger when they are tagged (occasionally a player can let go of the trigger as they are
getting tagged and still get the reflex shot).

If you are holding both buttons/trigger in when you get tagged the reflex shot fires so fast that you don’t even hear it.

The key to doing well in this format is to make sure that you use the "reflex" tag to the fullest extent. Here is an example:

Red 1 is facing Blue 1 AND Blue 2.
Red 1 tags Blue 1 at the same time that Blue 1 tags Red 1.
With the "reflex" tag Red 1 also tags Blue 2.

Score: Blue team 1 tag ( Blue 1 to Red 1)
Red team 2 tags (Red 1 tags Blue 1 AND Blue 2) WINNER!

It’s what some of us tournament players call "getting your two-for-ones". You should strive to get two for ones often.

(At a minimum, to stay in the game, you should at least go tag for tag). Don’t be in the middle of two opponents. Line them up so they are both in your field of view ( If you are
lucky, and they are in a straight line, you may even be able to tag them both with 1 tag).

It is a lot easier to score with that reflex tag if you don’t have to take the time to turn around, take aim and fire... :)
